About Diane

Diane Teresa Gavarkavich (DTG) started her career as Ms. DeTrizio, an algebra teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Her experience as a teacher in a Title I school informs her community-oriented approach to her work as well as provides the critical context needed to thrive as a nonprofit organization serving our region.

Wanting to expand her impact and continue on with her love of numbers, Diane earned a Masters of Public Health in Health Behavior and a Nonprofit Leadership Graduate Certificate from UNC Chapel Hill, as well as a a Doctorate of Education from Vanderbilt University in Leadership and Learning in Organizations.

Her most recent position was with the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute, where she led dozens of community program evaluations, public opinion research projects, and needs assessments, while engaging with campus and community partners, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and participating in community initiatives, particularly around measurement and social capital.

Diane serves on the board of McClintock Partners In Education, Generation Nation, and the Center for Children. She also convenes the Charlotte Evaluators Forum and teaches Administration of Non-Profits to undergraduates at Queens University of Charlotte.
